“Connection is why we’re here; it is what gives purpose and meaning to our lives.”
Origin Story
River Valley Therapy Co. came from years of paying attention.
Our work has taken us through schools, nonprofits, clinical settings, classrooms, and community spaces. It has shown us that people’s lives are bigger than their symptoms, and care has to make room for that.
Some of the most meaningful parts of our work have happened in educational spaces.
Audra’s role in higher education and Colton’s work in public schools have given us two different but deeply connected views of care: one focused on preparing future helpers, the other rooted in the daily realities of students, families, and school systems.
Together, these roles have given us a close view of how much happens inside educational spaces: learning, stress, relationships, behavior, grief, identity, family systems, community, and development all unfolding at once.
They have also helped us see the gaps clearly.
We have seen students and families trying to navigate systems that are overwhelmed. We have seen educators carrying more than people realize. We have seen future helpers preparing to enter a field that needs both skill and humanity. And we have seen how often people struggle to find support before reaching a crisis point.
Those experiences have deeply shaped our passion for this work.
They continue to remind us that care should feel human, accessible, relational, and connected to the realities people live every day. River Valley Therapy Co. grew from that belief and from a genuine hope to create one more place where people feel seen, supported, and understood.
River Valley Therapy Co. is our way of contributing something personal to this community. It is a place shaped by who we are, what we value, and what we believe care can become.
